Tofino Surf School is a local owner operated business. We offer small group sizes and personalized surf lessons. Surfing and teaching people how to surf is our passion. Tofino Surf School has taught thousands of people to surf young and old, including people with disabilities. We would love to get you started too!When you take a lesson with Tofino Surf School you have many options to choose from. You and your friends can opt to book a group lesson, you and your friends can join one of our scheduled lessons. You can can book a private 1-on-1 lesson or if you have some surf experience and your own equipment you can sign up for a surf guide where we show you the best surf spots and paddle out with you. Adjacent to the Lillooet River, in the Pemberton Volcanic Belt, you will find Tsek Hot Springs and the sacred location of the In-SHUCK-ch and Státimc people (nkkwtsa) of British Columbia. The nkkwtsa established a permanent village of (s7)ístken (pit houses) and plank houses along the banks of the Lillooet River, and a series of trails through the nearby forests to hunting grounds and neighbouring villages. The mineral hot springs at Tsek provided our ancestors with physical and spiritual wellness, while the loose, sandy nature of the soil made the cedar tree roots grow long and straight. Tseks hot and cold springs became the most important spiritual site in the lower Lillooet River Valley. It is said that the cool spring served as a healing pool where the Elder mothers trained men to be chiefs, watchmen, and other important positions in the In-SHUCK-ch Nation. Pronounced chick, Tsek Hot Springs (also known as Skookumchuck Hot Springs and St. Agnes Well Hot Springs) has continuously been occupied and utilized by the Státimc people as a location to heal and cleanse the body and spirit centuries before Europeans arrived along our shores.

The Victoria Golf Club, founded in 1893, is the oldest course in Canada on its original location, and second oldest in North America. The course began as 14 holes but quickly expanded to 18 in 1895. There have been at least three different lay-outs - the one played today was finalized in the mid-1920s (after a decision in 1923 to end the practice of hitting tee shots on two holes across the ever-busier Beach Drive). Our stately Clubhouse, completed in 1928, is a registered Canadian Historic Place and has undergone a number of expansions and renovations (including the most recent in 1993) and provides a grand and comfortable venue to begin your own memories. When you walk through this storied building you'll be reminded of a rich history of golf, companionship and community that spans over generations. Perhaps one of the more obscure yet heartwarming examples is a series of photos of a foursome on the course, taken annually on the same date over five decades. Golfing Legends For more than a century, famous names have graced our course, including golfing greats Harry Vardon, Byron Nelson, Joyce Wethered, Ben Hogan, Al Geiberger, Pat Bradley, George Knudson, Sam Snead, Dawn Coe Jones and Johnny Miller just to mention a few. Numerous celebrities, like Bob Hope, Bing Crosby, Wayne Gretzky, Pamela Anderson and Kiefer Sutherland have also been drawn to the seaside links through the years, not only to play but also in support of charitable causes. History continues to be made in the annual Victoria and Seattle GC inter-club, a home and home friendly that is the oldest international golf tournament in North America (since 1895). The Seniors North West Championship, representing players of various levels from the U.S Pacific northwest, British Columbia and Alberta, continues to be hosted by VGC for eighty plus years now.
