Khutzeymateen Wilderness Lodge

Come to the northern edge of the Great Bear Rainforest on British Columbia’s north coast, to the Khutzeymateen (K'tzim-a-deen) Grizzly Bear Sanctuary. Here, within the traditional territory of the Tsimshian nations, lives a wild population of coastal grizzly bears. Just south of the Alaska panhandle and located within Canada's only grizzly bear protected area, the Khutzeymateen Wilderness Lodge is your home in the wilderness to visit grizzly bears in their natural habitat. No roads, no towns... just wilderness and wildlife. Climb into a locally operated water taxi from Prince Rupert, BC for an hour boat while watching for bears, whales, seabirds, and more along the way to the lodge. Once you arrive, enjoy searching by boat for grizzly bears in the lush Khutzeymateen Inlet and estuary surrounded by waterfalls and mountains, delicious meals, and peaceful relaxation. We are trained and certified under the Commercial Bear Viewing Association of BC.
