Fraser Valley & Fraser Canyon
A stunning journey from countryside to canyons
As you travel east of Vancouver along the Rainforest to Rockies route, the fertile fields of the Fraser Valley give way to soaring mountains and the plunging Fraser Canyon.
These lands and waters shape the stories and living culture of First Nations in the area—there are many opportunities to learn more along the way.
Just 40 minutes outside of Vancouver, the Fraser Valley is the breadbasket of southern BC. Dairies, farms, breweries, and wineries dot the countryside, flanked by distant mountain peaks. Hike to a scenic summit or seek out quirky experiences— think alpaca visits and supernatural Sasq’ets sightings. (Sasq’ets is the Halq’emeylem word for “hairy man,” and is used by Sts’ailes First Nation to refer to what many know as Sasquatch.)
Seasonal highlights include tulip festivals, summer berry-picking, and autumnal activities like corn mazes and cider sipping.
