Located in the beautiful mountain town of Smithers, BC we are within walking distance of restaurants, shopping and nightly entertainment. Our staff can provide information on hiking, paddling, fishing and skiing. All rooms are non-smoking,clean and quiet. The beds are comfy with warm duvets, each room has a large flat screen HDTV, Wi-Fi, air conditioning, and phone. We hope the Stork Nest Inn will be your base camp to adventure in Northern BC.

Ahous Adventures offers an exciting variety of eco-cultural 2024 Winter excursions including Hot Springs Cove tours and Nature Tours. We invite visitors to explore Tofino & auusat hauuii (Ahousaht territories) through the lens of the people who have lived on & stewarded these lands & waters since time immemorial. 2025 Season runs MAY 17th to SEPTEMBER 14th! Join Wild Water Adventures on the famous KICKING HORSE RIVER and experience the best whitewater in the region! Choose from fun & splashy Class II/III rapids or more challenging (and bigger!) Class IV rapids for an adrenaline-pumping adventure. Guests need only bring a bathing suit and towel; top-quality wetsuits, neoprene booties & gloves, spray jackets, life jackets and helmets are provided. Our River Base offers heated indoor change rooms and spacious covered decks for enjoying views of the river and mountains. Conveniently located on TransCanada Hwy #1; 45 minutes west of Lake Louise. Daily half-day & full-length trips are offered mid-May through mid-September. No previous rafting experience required. Ideal for the entire family! Rafting the Kicking Horse since 1992. This non-profit society manages over 20 km of nordic trails groomed for classic and skate winter skiing in two areas managed by the club. One area is in town at the Fernie Golf Course featuring 12 km of trails on fairly mellow terrain with wide open spaces. There are also more than 10 km of trails at the Elk Valley Nordic Centre next to Mount Fernie Provincial Park. To reach the Elk Valley Nordic Centre, go west from Fernie on Highway 3. At 3 km from the bridge, turn right at the Island Lake Lodge sign. Follow the road for 0.9 km to the Mt. Fernie Provincial Park sign. Turn left into the overflow parking lot at 0.2 km. The hilly terrain and isolated nature of the trails makes this a very exciting place to ski. The trails link up with the multi-use trails at Fernie Alpine Resort. Trail maps are posted at the kiosks located at the entrances to the trails. Please NO DOGS ON THE TRAILS at any time. The Elk Valley Nordic Centre Warming Hut is located at (49.485633 N, 115.090980 W).
