Nechako White Sturgeon Conservation Centre

The Nechako White Sturgeon Conservation Centre hatchery program is dedicated to maintaining genetic diversity and conserving the population of the Nechako White Sturgeon. The hatchery is used to rear sturgeon eggs into one-year old sturgeon for release into the river. Research projects and programs also run out of the hatchery. Visitor Hours: Tours currently available by appointment only. Call the hatchery at 250-567-6673, email nechako@gofishbc.com or email info@nechakowhitesturgeon.org to book.There is an Community Fishing Pond stocked with rainbow trout on-site that is open for public fishing (catch-and-release only) on a drop-in basis. Free rod and tackle gear is available. Adults 16 years+ require a basic fishing licence. The Trout Fishing Pond is open May 1 October 31, dawn to dusk.

One of those areas is the Wells Gray Park, 5200 sq. kilometer of protected wilderness in Central British Columbia. Bounded on the north and east by the Cariboo Mountains, and on the west by an upland plateau, the Wells Gray Park encompasses a broad spectrum of mountain scenery. The area is abundant in flora and fauna. Caribou, moose, black bear, beaver and wolf freely roam the park, and local streams are well stocked with trout. Horseback riding, fishing, mountain biking, river rafting, hiking and canoeing into the local wilderness are all part of the ranch's daily summer routine. Your skilled guide will lead you to adventures on remote mountains, valleys and lakes in a setting as spectacular as it is challenging. COVID-19-update: The Wells Gray Guest Ranch will open June 1st, 2020 with limited capacity,. We are continuing to welcome guests who are able to make the journey.
