We are a family style motel situated on Cortes Island, in beautiful British Columbia. Our motel offers ten comfortable and affordable rooms (most rooms have kitchenettes). We welcome families, pets, children, individuals with varying mobility and anyone who wants to experience our beautiful island community. We are situated centrally, close to all amenities and several of our island's most popular hiking trails, beaches & lakes. Picnic tables, BBQs, a campfire pit and hammock are all provided to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable. With stays of 2 nights or more you can have the American Plan for $250 a night per person. This includes accommodation and all your amazing meals. Also access to all the fun activities on the 100 acre riverside ranch. We have a wide variety of packages to choose from. This non-profit society manages over 20 km of nordic trails groomed for classic and skate winter skiing in two areas managed by the club. One area is in town at the Fernie Golf Course featuring 12 km of trails on fairly mellow terrain with wide open spaces. There are also more than 10 km of trails at the Elk Valley Nordic Centre next to Mount Fernie Provincial Park. To reach the Elk Valley Nordic Centre, go west from Fernie on Highway 3. At 3 km from the bridge, turn right at the Island Lake Lodge sign. Follow the road for 0.9 km to the Mt. Fernie Provincial Park sign. Turn left into the overflow parking lot at 0.2 km. The hilly terrain and isolated nature of the trails makes this a very exciting place to ski. The trails link up with the multi-use trails at Fernie Alpine Resort. Trail maps are posted at the kiosks located at the entrances to the trails. Please NO DOGS ON THE TRAILS at any time. The Elk Valley Nordic Centre Warming Hut is located at (49.485633 N, 115.090980 W).
