Located in the Central Park Building, a heritage building constructed in 1925, in the heart of Smithers. The Smithers Art Gallery is committed to providing a welcoming destination for all to enjoy. The North Island Wildlife Recovery Centre is located in a park-like setting with a peaceful rustic atmosphere. When visiting the centre you will be able to view eagles, several species of owls, falcons, hawks, ravens, and black bears. Rehabilitating eagles can be viewed through one way glass in the largest flight enclosure of its kind in Canada. The Centre's mandate is the rehabilitation of injured and orphaned native wildlife, with a focus on raptors and black bears. GUIDED TOURS: are available for groups of 15 or more. HOURS OF OPERATION: 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. 7 days a week. ENTRANCE FEES: $15.00.00 adults, $6.00 children aged 3-12, plus applicable taxes.

Nanaimo Museum: Discover Nanaimos fascinating history in our museum located in the VI Conference Centre. The main gallery offers a sense of what life was like for Nanaimo's earliest settlers and the Snuneymuxw First Nation. Our award winning replica coal mine is a popular stop. The museum also manages the Bastion, an original Hudson's Bay Company post built in 1853. Dont miss the gift shop! The Deep Bay Marine Field Station provides many learning opportunities for the public. We have aquariums and touch tanks that help to interpret the local marine environment to our visitors. A visit to the station can be quite an interactive experience! We have both guided and self-guided tours that provide interpretation on several themes along with occasional public lectures and special events.
