Bethlehem Centre is a cottage-at-the-lake style retreat and conference centre. Ideal for residential groups of 10-40 people, the Centre offers an all-inclusive experience with full meal service and on-site opportunities for quiet reflection and spiritual path-making. Situated on the shores of Westwood Lake at the foot of Mount Benson in Nanaimo, the Centre is a 5-minute walk from a swimming beach, is surrounded by forest, and is connected to miles of hiking trails. The Centre has an outdoor Chartres-style labyrinth, a finger labyrinth museum, a gift shop, a library, an organic vegetable garden and a contained eco-system outdoor pond. The Nelson Museum, Archives & Gallery is a multi-faceted organization with a history museum exhibition, regional archives, two contemporary gallery spaces and a fabulous gift shop. The history museum features an introduction to the Sinixt and Ktunaxa nations, culture and perspectives, the history of European exploration and the challenges of trade and travel routes, and how various industries such mining, transportation, hydroelectricity affected the area and the creation of the Queen City. Our galleries rotate exhibitions eight times per year and feature everything from contemporary art and pop culture, to fine craft and design, to local architectural and social history the Nelson Museum's exhibitions connect to this areas creative energy and rich heritage. The gift shop features wares from over 100 local artists and authors.
