Welcome to our ranch in the Okanagan Valley a true wilderness experience only half an hour drive from Vernon, BC.Explore and enjoy unspoiled nature and tranquility on over 600 acres and surrounding crown land from your comfortable log cabin.You will stay in one of our 2 handcrafted log cabins that each sleep up to 6 people and offer beautiful views of the Monashee Mountains and our private lake. Both cabins as well as all other buildings on Bear Valley Highlands are powered by solar power systems to preserve this beautiful nature.Your cabin provides lots of privacy and the chance to get away from it all, relax viewing the wildlife right from your porch or take a stroll down to the lake for a swim, paddle or do some fishing, not to forget the amazing sunsets over the valley in the evening.

While everyone enjoys the wine and the view when they come to visit, the most asked question would have to be about our name...On a cool spring morning in 1929, a small crew from Okanagan Falls set off to a deserted mining camp some 16 miles away from home. Their mission: to dismantle an old wooden church and bring it back to Okanagan Falls.The plan called for a controlled blast of four dynamite sticks inside the church in order to "loosen the nails". Odd as it may seem, the explosion spared the wood from damage during dismantling.Save for losing the steeple, the plan succeeded. Now the 103 year old wooden church stands proudly in its second home of Okanagan Falls and is still an operating United Church. In keeping with its rather remarkable history, the church has since withstood the threat of two major floods, including the disastrous burst of the Okanagan Falls Dam in the early 1950's.In naming our VQA wines "Blasted Church" we celebrate the ingenuity of the initiative to move the church and honor those pioneers for their vision.

Black Sheep Camp Kootenay is a campground situated along the picturesque Kootenay River in Canal Flats. The campground boasts 31 fully serviced RV sites, 20 30-amp power sites, four well-appointed glamping tents, and ample boondocking spaces throughout the property for off-the-grid camping experiences. Camp Kootenay River features amenities such as a washhouse with hot showers, washrooms, and a laundry facility. Additionally, guests can find a mercantile offering supplies at the office, as well as a storage yard catering to indoor storage needs for boats, RVs, trailers, and containers.

We fish two different premiere locations. Haida Gwaii (Queen Charlotte Islands) located offshore in the North Pacific and Port Hardy (Vancouver Island). Although, both locations are considered a rain forests and are known for culture, beauty and marine life, they are both arguably known best for their legendary bounties of salmon & halibut. A single artist gallery on one of Canada's Gulf Islands. Really an Art Lovers Getaway. Jill travels and paints in various parts of the world. She has many collections on her website and over 300 paintings currently in print. Jill has had galleries of her own for more than 30 years. Her personal gallery on Salt Spring Island is definitely the best place to view her art plus have a chance to meet in person. She paints primarily in watercolour always vibrant and uplifting. The gallery is open daily in the summer and by appointment the rest of the year.
