Malahat SkyWalk opened in July 2021 as the newest outdoor experience providing the ultimate natural high on Vancouver Island located 35 minutes north of Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. Accessible by all ages and wheelchair-friendly, it will immerse visitors in nature as they embark on a 600 metre-long elevated walkway through an expansive Arbutus and Douglas Fir forest, leading to a 10-storey, architecturally-inspiring spiral tower lookout the first of its kind in B.C. Rising 250 metres above sea level, guests can enjoy 360-degree views of islands, inlets, fjords, forests and mountains in two countries. An adventure net suspended partially across the centre of the Spiral Tower provides daring guests with another breathtaking perspective on the spiraling structure below before returning to ground level with an option to take an exhilarating ride down a 20 metre (65 ft) spiral slide. The Visitor Centre in New Denver is the hub of local information for travelers, adventure seekers, and those wanting to experience the local Kootenay lifestyle. The Visitor Centre is housed in the historic Bank of Montreal building (built 1897) and the building also contains the Silvery Slocan Museum. The Tumbler Ridge Museum is home to the Dinosaur Discovery Gallery and the Peace Region Paleontology Research Centre. The central display features a full-scale re-creation of a 100 million-year-old dinosaur track environment, with additional displays on dinosaur and other vertebrate tracks and traces, which make up the vast majority of the terrestrial vertebrate record of western Canada. The interactive theatre provides several presentation options for visitors to view and learn about the pre-history of the Peace Region of British Columbia. During the summer the Gallery offers Trackway Tours, Day Camps for kids ages 7 13, and Drop in programs for kids and families of all ages. The Tumbler Ridge Human History Gallery is housed in the Community Centre with free access during regular Centre hours.
