Sleigh Rides Through Winter Wonderland I grew up on a farm learning the value of the horse. In my early years I had a team of ponies that took kids out toboggans, which eventually led my teams and I to do Christmas Rides in town. When not doing sleigh rides, I am working my teams on the farm doing everything from chores, to working the fields. All of my years with the horses, has led me to be able to offer sleigh rides at Big White during the winter months.

Often referred to as the best place to stay on the Alaska Highway, the Northern Rockies Lodge is the newest and most impressive hotel in the Liard River (hot springs), Toad River and Muncho Lake region. We are located on Mile 462 of the historic Alaska Highway on the shores of beautiful Muncho Lake. As a remote lodge, we pride ourselves in maintaining a high level of service for our guests in the middle of the untouched wilderness of Muncho Lake. Our facilities include a hotel, dining room and lounge, cabins, lakeshore chalets, RV Park, gas station, picnic areas, sauna, playground, floatplane dock, boat ramp and more. All of our facilities are available for our guests including Wifi. We are proud to be able to provide our guests with most of the modern comforts despite being so remote. The Northern Rockies Lodge operates year round without any government subsidies and we were able to build over the last 3+ decades a self-sufficient village in the wilderness for you: We generate our own power, our own water and sewage systems. In addition to providing overnight accommodations for the Alcan travellers, we are also a popular vacation destination for many guests. Relaxation seeps into your body as you ease into the largest NATURAL hot springs pools in Canada. Liard River Hot Springs is a river of hot water that provides relief to Alaskan bound travellers after a long day on the road. The hot springs complex is of national ecological significance and is well known for its natural setting in a lush boreal spruce forest. The park is such a popular stop over for tourists that the campgound fills up early each day during the summer months. Liard is also open year-round. There is a hot spring open to the public with water temperatures ranging from 42° C to 52° C. Facilities include a change house and composting toilet. A boardwalk, which leads to the hot spring pools(A natural river of hot water), passes through a warm water swamp and boreal forest that supports rich and diverse plant communities as well as mammal and bird species.

Little Qualicum Falls Provincial Park straddles the scenic Little Qualicum River, west of Parksville, where impressive waterfalls cascade and plummet down a rocky gorge in a beautiful forest setting. Perhaps the most magnificent park on Vancouver Island, Little Qualicum Falls incorporates the entire southern shore of Cameron Lake, adjacent to MacMillan Provincial Park and the awesome Cathedral Grove Rainforest. Cameron Lake is bordered by steep mountains: Mt. Wesley to the north and Mt. Arrowsmith to the south.
