Sea Kayaking is a fun-tastic way to explore and two of British Columbias most unique and scenic kayak destinations, Desolation Sound Marine Park and the Copeland Islands Marine Park. Quite often we will be followed by nosy seals, playful river otters and sometimes even by an impressive sea lion. With a bit of luck we could encounter a pod of Killer Whales or even a Humpback Whale in Desolation Sound or Salish Sea. Throughout the seasons many bird species choose this area to forage or breed. Frequent sightings of bald eagles, various ducks and shore-birds are not uncommon. We focus on SMALL GROUPS and personal attention. Formally, Nicholas Sonntag Marine Education Centre, TidePools is a unique collect-and-release aquarium located inside Gibsons Public Market in the seaside town of Gibsons, BC. TidePools houses 30 exhibits displaying natural habitats and local marine fish and invertebrates from the waters of the Howe Sound. This includes interactive touch tanks and scavenger hunts! The animals are collected by our team of professional SCUBA divers. The animals are then housed in the Centre for 6-18 months, depending on the species, and released back to the ocean with help from the entire community. Displays are always changing, allowing the diversity of the marine life we have in the Howe Sound to shine.
