Or become a member and take advantage of all The Gardens have to offer including interactive gardening activities and hands-on gardening, social gatherings, and the opportunity to contribute to something special while enjoying the outdoors in our beautiful 2-acre surroundings. We are fully accessible and child friendly. The Gardens on Anderton is where growth happens, so come on by. Entry for visitors is by donation.
The Dominion Astrophysical Observatory is a designated National Historical Site. Its original instrument, the Plaskett Telescope was the largest operational telescope in the world when it started observations in 1918. It is still used nightly for scientific research. Tour the telescope and learn the history of this amazing machine that mapped the Milky Way Galaxy. The Centre of the Universe offers the unique experience of visiting the historic Plaskett telescope. We also have our exhibit gallery, complete with planetarium showing the stars and full dome movies, virtual reality experiences, kiosks, and more. Currently our winter hours are in place. During the cruise season we open for exclusive onshore excursions.
Project X Theatre is back with another exciting season of family-friendly summer programming! Theatre Under the Trees will run in Prince Charles Park from July 7th - 26th, 2025 and features two exciting shows, "Thumbelina" and "The Emperor's New Threads". More info available at projectxtheatre.ca.
This Farmers' Market offers a unique experience with a permanent outdoor marketplace during the spring/summer including vendor booths, a food barn, a bandshell for local music and a miniature train that runs during the Sunday market. You will find fresh, locally grown produce, meats and eggs as well as fresh baking and preserves. There's plenty of ready to eat food to keep you satisfied as you listen to live music, enjoy local craftspeople and relax around the stage or the children's sandbox. For a relaxing experience to help you get a good sense of what Powell River community feels like, join us from May-Sept on Saturdays from 10:30 am - 12:30 pm and year round on Sundays from 12:30 pm - 2:30pm at 4365 McLeod Road. Playland is part of the Pacific National Exhibition (PNE) fairgrounds in Vancouver and is BCs most famous amusement park. Playland features exhilarating rides and attractions for all ages, exciting midway games, mini-golf, a climbing wall, haunted mansion and a variety of delicious food. Playland offers over 35 rides and attractions, including four exciting roller coasters. One of the most loved and talked about attractions at Playland is the historic Wooden Roller Coaster. For the more adventurous visitors, Playland offers 15 extreme rides and attractions including the extreme swing ride Atmosfear, which takes you up 218 feet while spinning 70km/hour and The Beast, cited as Canadas most extreme pendulum ride. For those looking to experience a bit of thrill with the entire family, Playland features 17 family and kids rides including three new family rides for 2016, a spinning coaster, Bug Whirled, a peddle operated ride, Flutterbye and a tower, Dizzy Drop. For those hoping to capture amazing views of Vancouver, the Westcoast Wheel ferris wheel will provide just that! Of course, a visit to Playland is not complete without a ride on the historic Wooden Roller Coaster. Unique to Playland is Kids Playce, an area designated for parents and families with children between the ages of 2-10. The Chali-Rosso Gallery collection is primarily focused on graphic works by the Modern Masters, including Pablo PICASSO, Salvador DALI, Marc CHAGALL, Joan MIRO and Henri MATISSE. In addition, we also offer works by REMBRANDT, Pierre-Auguste RENOIR, Edgar DEGAS, Andy WARHOL and a variety of others. The gallery launched the Definitely Dali project in May 2017, continuing in 2018 and 2019.

The Secwepemc Museum & Heritage Park is located along the banks of the beautiful South Thompson River. The Secwepemc Museum & Heritage Park consists of both an inside and outside viewing experience for visitors. The tour of the museum offers a rich history of the life of the Secwepemc people. Once inside the museum visitors can view "The Land of the Secwepemc" DVD, and can then immerse themselves in the beautiful artefacts and displays within the four galleries that are offered.Afterwards, the Heritage park offers a trail of over a kilometre of archaeological remains of a 2,000 year old Secwepemc winter village. The winter village consists of 1 reconstructed winter pit-houses, and summer tule mat lodges which feature various unique food preparation structures. In addition; for viewing pleasure, is one of Kamloops Marshes that is filled with beautiful wildlife and visitors may even be able to get a glimpse of the Coyote (Skelep) and her pups that are currently living in the area.
