Crowsnest Vineyards was purchased by the Heinecke family in 1985 when the Winery, Restaurant and Guesthouse were launched. Named after the Crowsnest Highway #3, the family was an early contributor to the development of the Similkameen wine region and the wine and food has continuously evolved over the years. Siblings, Sascha and Anna Heinecke were instrumental in the evolution of the business and with the retirement of their parents, took over leadership in 2018 with a bold new vision. The vision is built on the bounty of the regionthe opportunity to express the spectacular local terroir from which we craft our wines and from which grows amazing, fresh ingredients included in our menus, pantry and bakery. We serve this bounty in a relaxed environment at our tasting bar, in our restaurant and on the view patio.

100% Saanich grown wines. Our family has been farming on this lovely part of the Oldfield valley since the late 1950's; first in strawberries, and then loganberries for the island wineries in the mid 1960's to 70's. We planted our vines in 2003 and opened our tasting room in 2012. Just 15 minutes north of Victoria near Butchart Gardens, we specialize in dry white wines and lively, lightly oaked reds. We grow Ortega - a signature grape for Vancouver Island, as well as Pinot Gris, Gewurztraminer, Pinot Noir (we make a rose and a red from this grape), Millot and Foch, as well as our low alcohol "Splash". Castlegar Sculpturewalk is an annual exhibition of outdoor sculptures, located on a pleasant walking tour in downtown Castlegar. Viewers are encouraged to vote for their favourite sculpture via ballot - the winner of the People's Choice award is purchased by the City for the permanent collections. All of the artworks are available for sale or lease. Ballots/maps are located in red ballot boxes along the route (the start of the route is at the Kootenay Market (635 Columbia Avenue), though you can begin the walk from anywhere. Ballots/maps are also available at the Castlegar Chamber of Commerce, City Hall, or the Kootenay Gallery.

The Raptors is located in the heart of the beautiful Cowichan Valley, just 60 minutes north of Downtown Victoria and 45 minutes south of Downtown Nanaimo by car.

Continuously occupied for over 4,300 years, Yuquot village became the capital for all 17 tribes of the Nootka Sound region. Known as the Birthplace of BC where first contact with European explorers and traders occurred 250 years ago. Attracted to the security of the harbour, it became known to explorers as Friendly Cove. As a result, Yuquot developed into an important centre of trade and diplomacy, and it was briefly the site of Spains only military establishment in present-day Canada.

The Kootenay Lake Historical Society is the custodian of the S.S. Moyie, the world's oldest intact passenger sternwheeler. The Moyie plied Kootenay Lake for 59 years - it is now a National Historic Site and Museum. Open from May through October, visitors are taken back in time when the board the vessel. Fun for families and people of all ages!
