Peachland is a picturesque community located in the Southern Interior of British Columbia, a part of the Thompson Okanagan Tourism Region. Peachland boasts an uninterrupted 4-mile beach trail with an abundance of water activities such as paddle boarding and boat rentals. During Summer, Swim Bay (wheelchair accessible) is the only lifeguarded beach on Okanagan Lake. Walk the Ray Kandola Pier, which stretches along the Peachland shoreline for 408 feet. The pier offers fishing bays, benches, and beautiful unobstructed views. Situated across from Heritage Park, the Peachland Visitor Centre and Museum resides in the unique 8-sided former Baptist Church built in 1910. The ground floor is wheelchair accessible, and there is a large Model Train Display of the Kettle Valley Railway on the second floor; fun for all ages! Historic Joy Kogawa House is the childhood home of Canadian author Joy Kogawa. Joy and her family lived in the house until 1942, when they were sent to an internment camp along with thousands of other Canadians of Japanese descent. Now used as a site for author residencies and literary events, the house stands as a historical reminder of the internment experience of Japanese Canadians during WW2.
