The Visitor Centre in New Denver is the hub of local information for travelers, adventure seekers, and those wanting to experience the local Kootenay lifestyle. The Visitor Centre is housed in the historic Bank of Montreal building (built 1897) and the building also contains the Silvery Slocan Museum. Take a stroll though our 100 year old history, or stay in the now, with free wifi access. We are open part-time during May and June, then will be open 7 days a week from July 1st until Labour Day weekend in September.

The Nelson Museum, Archives & Gallery is a multi-faceted organization with a history museum exhibition, regional archives, two contemporary gallery spaces and a fabulous gift shop. The history museum features an introduction to the Sinixt and Ktunaxa nations, culture and perspectives, the history of European exploration and the challenges of trade and travel routes, and how various industries such mining, transportation, hydroelectricity affected the area and the creation of the Queen City. Our galleries rotate exhibitions eight times per year and feature everything from contemporary art and pop culture, to fine craft and design, to local architectural and social history the Nelson Museum's exhibitions connect to this areas creative energy and rich heritage. The gift shop features wares from over 100 local artists and authors. Explore the fully restored and furnished late Victorian London Farm House (1898), illustrating rural life in Richmond between 1890 and 1920. London Farm is one of the earliest farm sites in Richmond, and features the home of Charles and Henrietta London, who built a small house on site in 1898 and then added to it in 1906. The farm produced dairy products, oats, wheat barley, fruit from an orchard and vegetables. This riverfront land became known as Londons landing and a wharf was built on the property to provide greater access to the river to send farm products to market. Today, visitors can enjoy beautiful heritage perennial flowers, a kitchen and herb garden, an outside exhibit of large, antique farm equipment and chickens.
