Perched atop the grasslands 5 min. south of Vernon the Allan Brooks Nature Centre is a top attraction and a great place to satisfy your natural curiosity and reconnect with the joys and excitement of the natural world. Here you will be rewarded with outstanding views of the surrounding landscape including Okanagan, Kalamalka, and Swan Lakes and four distinct ecosystems of the region. Great Blue Heron Nature Reserve
A 300 acre nature reserve with level walking trails, bird viewing blinds, observation tower and interpretive centre (free) . Known for a large nesting colony of Great Blue Herons which nest from March through July. Great bird and wildlife watching. Check website for free community programs and special events. Trail open dawn to dusk. Rotary Interpretive Centre is open 10 am to 4 pm.
