Island View Beach Regional Park
This seasonal government-run campground on the ocean offers affordable RV and tent camping in nature with fabulous panoramic seascape views. It features a long sandy beach, bird watching, nature events, a variety of walking trails, including a user-friendly loop trail. It is close to the ferry, airport, downtown Victoria and the Lochside Regional Trail. The campground has 18 beach front RV sites, 5 treed tent trailer sites and 24 treed tent sites, and all campsites are self-contained. Sites are reservable online only, up to 30 days in advance; no first-come first-serve. All sites $25/night; $10 for each additional vehicle. Payable online by Visa or Mastercard. Rich with Kwakwakawakw Culture & History. The Umista Cultural Centre has the famed Potlatch Collection, taken by Canadian Government in 1922. U'mista also has summer programs from Tuesdays to Fridays July and August check their facebook site for schedules closer to summer months. The Alert Bay Library-Museum has many photographs of local history & items from early settlement years. The Ecological Park has boardwalk through a marsh and short trails surounding the park. Also 16 KM of Island trails that take you through our amazing forest. Art galleries, stroll long the boardwalk, Totem Poles, Big House. T'sasala Cultural Group culture sharing Saturdays in Big House July and August. Zeballos Expeditions
Sea otter Enhydra Lutris and whale watching tours in Esperanza Inlet on the west coast of north Vancouver Island. Boat tours last about 5 hours with shore break. The price of $600 is per boat charter; there is a 12 person limit. Accommodation & meal packages available. Sea otters can be viewed year round, Humpback whales usually show up late spring to fall. Black bears can be spotted after April.
