During the pandemic, the Sidney Street Market was transformed into the "Sidney Outdoor Markets". Its new location off Beacon Avenue, next to the Mary Winspear Centre, hosts two markets per week throughout the summer. The new location offers plenty of nearby parking, larger, less crowded laneways to walk, convenient public washrooms and a wonderful variety of local and regional growers, producers, artists, musicians and creators that consist of many of our old favourites along with loads of new, exciting vendors. All of this is still just steps away from beautiful downtown Sidney and the many shops, restaurants and waterfront walkway. The Nechako White Sturgeon Conservation Centre hatchery program is dedicated to maintaining genetic diversity and conserving the population of the Nechako White Sturgeon. The hatchery is used to rear sturgeon eggs into one-year old sturgeon for release into the river. Research projects and programs also run out of the hatchery. Visitor Hours: Tours currently available by appointment only. As of Thursday April 24, tours will be available at 2pm daily (including weekends). Specific tour time requests are still available and approved based on operations and staff availability. Enjoy the spectacular lake and mountain views. Bring your fly fishing rod to enjoy catching and releasing wild rainbow trout (additional fee).
