We are always at work, greeting people from everywhere and demonstrating the ancient art form of carving with hand tools. Artwork can be bought or commissioned on site and we can organize shipping. We are situated right on the exceptional Chesterman's Beach in Tofino, on the North end, next to the famous Wickaninnish Inn
Here's how my tours work ... I customize them to what people want. I'm the only guide who can take people into the heritage buildings, the only one that has a Master's degree in Chinese Canadian History, and I donate money to the Chinese associations for upkeep and renovations. I take people into numerous clan and county Association buildings, to a herbal store, to a produce store, etc. Tell me what you want the focus of the tour to be and I will make it happen.
The Nelson Museum, Archives & Gallery is a multi-faceted organization with a history museum exhibition, regional archives, two contemporary gallery spaces and a fabulous gift shop. Tofino Botanical Gardens are 12 acres of gardens, forest, and shoreline that explore the relationship between culture and nature. A network of paths and boardwalk will take you through our Cultivated Gardens, Sculpture Park, and Old-Growth Temperate Rainforest, where clearings have been transformed into a series of pocket gardens. Some of these gardens display plants that thrive in temperate rainforests around the world including Chile and Japan. Others celebrate cultural groups that have made Clayoquot Sound their home now and in the past, particularly the Nuu-chah-nulth First Nations, early Japanese fishing families, and, of course, hippies. The Gardens extend to the Tofino Mudflats, an incredible expanse of intertidal mud teeming with life, revealed twice a day at low tide. James Walton opened this infamous East Vancouver brewery in 1994 and today he continues to brew some of the most interesting and delicious beers in the city. Storm is well known for their unique selection of weekly rotating "Brainstorm" brews. You may sample up to 6 different beers by cash donation. The brewery itself is an example of Walton's "DIY" attitude and is a sight to behold!
