The Fort Nelson Heritage Museum is situated just West of the historic Mile 300 milepost on the World Famous Alaska Highway. The museum is located in Fort Nelson, BC, Canada and is operated by the Fort Nelson Historical Society. Fort Nelson is the gateway to the Northern Rocky Mountains and the Muskwa-Kechika Management Area. Mission Statement: To preserve and share the human, natural, and transportation history of the Fort Nelson area. Housed in 8 buildings, the museum offers countless displays and artifacts. We offer 57 km of skate/classic trackset trails; 114 km of ungroomed ski trails and 17 km of snowshoe trails. Our groomed trails are maintained by a PB Edge tracksetter and a side by side pulling the Ginzu groomer. There is a beautiful heated chalet with kitchen facilities and indoor washrooms. Our volunteers are active and provide daily grooming, a Safety Host program and ski programs and lessons for all ages.
