Boundary Country

Follow the Kettle Valley Rail Trail to adventure

Dotted with wide valleys and lush farmland, Boundary Country is a laid-back gateway to a range of four-season outdoor pursuits.

Follow Highway 3 from Rainforest to Rockies through southern BC, just north of the Washington State border. Its territories are shared by several First Nations, including the Sinixt, Syilx Okanagan Nation, Ktunaxa and others. Once a hub for copper mining, the region still holds geological treasures, such as sparkling geodes waiting to be discovered. It’s also home to a layered and fascinating settler stories, marked by resilience, refuge, and difficult chapters.

Begin your journey on the Kettle Valley Rail Trail, a historic steam rail line turned multi-use path that stretches 660 kilometres from Mile 0 in Midway. In summer, paddle or swim in the area’s sun-warmed lakes and rivers. Come fall, slow down with mural walks, local museums, birdwatching, and the flavours of the autumn harvest.
