Big Bar Guest Ranch is proudly owned by Stswecemc Xgattem First Nation (SXFN), a community located in a semi-remote area on the the Fraser River, approximately 85 kilometers southwest of Williams Lake. Once two distinct bands, Canoe Creek (Stswecemc) and Dog Creek (Xgattem), our two Secwepemc communities joined together in the late 1800s. We honour our separate histories and our coming together. In the 1860s, more than 10,000 people traversed the Caribou Wagon Roadin search of a new life, land to raise cattle, or a gold strike. Harry Marriott, an immigrant from England, started working for the notorious Gang Ranch, one the largest ranch in Canada. Marriot acquired smaller ranches and land parcels, eventually consolidating them into the O.K Ranching Company, with access over 200,000 acres of cattle country and wilderness. Marriott partnered with his friend and Vancouver banker, George S Harrison and sectioned off 100 acres of their mutual land acquisition for his personal use. This was the beginning of Big Bar Guest Ranch. Much is unchanged since the Harrison family used Big Bar Ranch as their family retreat. The original family home, "The Harrison House", built in 1936 with logs and stone hewn and selected from the property, continues to provide a cozy retreat for guests on holiday relaxing in the great room in front of the fire place, or playing a cowboy song on the guitar in the music room. Big Bar guests have access to the original acreage of the OK Cattle Company, and can venture out across unspoiled pasture lands and forests. What has changed is that Big Bar Guest Ranch is now a part of our shared community vision of becoming an economically and politically self-sustaining community living Secwepemc culture, language, and traditions in a healthy and safe environment. Stswecemc Xgattem First Nation invites you to Big Bar Guest Ranch to experience the dramatic landscape of traditional SXFN Territory: interlocking valleys and plateaus, situated between bold and snow topped mountain ranges. It is our honour to share history as the original inhabitants of this land and welcome you to life on the ranch.

Cedar Ridge Golf course offers an excellent golf experience by providing guests with an 18-hole Par 3 golf course that can be enjoyed in less time than a full size course while still providing challenges to the practiced golfer and attainable successes to the beginner. There is also a log constructed driving range with heated stalls allowing for year-round practice.

Led by an experienced guide, our small groups journey to remote areas in western Canada. One trip is "8 Days in Haida Gwaii, a low key, active trip with a cultural focus. One day, we take in the site of the village of Skedans. The next day, we may visit a carver in his studio, or perhaps get smudged. All while, we tread lightly on this land, our steps taking us closer to an immersive experience.

Visit us and ride the rails through the beautiful Mark Creek valley as you listen to the history of Kimberley and the Sullivan Mine. Experience life as a miner at the Underground Interpretive Centre. Participate in our mining show and be exposed to working mine equipment. Enjoy spectacular scenery and the occasional wild life as you travel to the Kimberley Alpine Resort. After a brief stop at the Resort Station you can learn more about Kimberley as you continue back to the Downtown Station. KUMR is open from the Victoria Day Holiday in May until Labour Day in September.

We started this as a commitment to farming sustainably and to show, as an example, how to live in harmony with nature. Although we are just starting out, we will heavily invest into our location to bring agri-tourism and agri-innovation to the forefront of people's minds. We have 20 acres of beautiful land to explore! Our 10 Glamping tents are huge and spacious. They are decorated to suit the most discerning of tastes. Outfitted with Queen size beds and a multitude of cots and floor mattresses to accommodate even the biggest of groups. We have a big campfire and multiple places to picnic and share a meal with your family and friends. Hit up our pens and spend some time with our Jersey calf Skim, Flemish giant rabbit (Bad), our Kunekune pig (Trippie Redd), Nubian buckling Noodles, and 2 billy goats (Silly and Billy). You could also cozy on down by the fire at night and enjoy a drink... or a puff! Listen to some music and have a good old time. Escape the city and see what farm life is really about! 9 minutes to Kalamalka Beach! 8 minutes to Vernon and all its amenities, world-class off-roading, mountain biking, ATV trails, orchards, and wineries. The Cowichan Regional Visitor Centre (CRVC) is located adjacent to the BC Forest Discovery Centre in Duncan, BC. The friendly and knowledgeable information councilors at the CRVC are prepared to help you plan and navigate your trip, and will make you feel at home in the luscious Cowichan Valley. The Visitor Centre is within a 10 minute drive of many of the region's highlights, including the famous Duncan City of Totems, Chemainus City of Murals, world-class wineries, quaint artisan galleries, and unforgettable whale watching experiences. If you're looking for lunch recommendations or a place to stay, our councilors would be happy to help make bookings and provide directions. The CRVC also hosts a variety of local souvenirs, books, and clothing items to fit your travel needs. Feel free to stop in for a coffee and to use the free WiFi.

Chims Cabins is located on the west side of Port Alberni along Highway 4, just a 57 minute drive from the city centre and event venues. Ideal for travelers heading to Tofino, visiting for work, or couples seeking quiet comfort. We offer six (6) self-contained cabins with private entrances, full kitchens, and mountain views. Cabins feature queen beds or a combination of queen and double beds, with pull-out couches and roll-up cots available in select units. Amenities include free Rogers Business Wi-Fi, satellite TV, and one dedicated parking spot per unit (extra parking available upon request). Our eco-conscious property offers on-site garbage, recycling, and food waste disposal. Rates are based on double occupancy (2 guests sharing a queen bed) or number of beds provided. $25 + tax per night applies for each extra guest using the pull-out or cot.
