Lowhee Campground

This well-treed campground offers a private and peaceful setting for campers of all kinds, with a deep forest on the south end in the first-come, first-served section, transitioning to a wetland on the north end in the reservable section. Lowhee Campground has 47 campsites that can be booked in advance, as well as 33 campsites in the first-come, first-served section. It features a playground, three washroom buildings with flush toilets and potable water, as well as a coin-operated shower house. Bear-proof garbage and recycling bins are offered in central locations throughout the campground. All campsites are equipped with a wheelchair-accessible picnic table and campfire ring. Firewood is available for an additional fee of $10 per day. Campsites are an average of 50 feet long and 14 feet wide and can accommodate most trailers and RVs when backed into the sites. Pull-through sites are available in the Forest Rose Campground. Lowhee Campground is located along the west side of Barkerville Highway, 2 km north of the Barkerville Visitor Centre. Guests can travel back and forth from the Historic Zone to Lowhee via the highway, or via a well-groomed walking path alongside the highway. Lowhee Campground is part of the 1,100-hectare property that forms Barkerville Historic Town & Park and is managed by Barkerville Heritage Trust.

The park is a popular overnight stop for RVer's and also provides day-use for local residents wishing to escape the summer heat of the valley. It's picturesque lake makes it a great spot to enjoy fishing, picnicking, walking, swimming, and nordic skiing in the winter. Grizzly Bear sightings are common in Spring and early Summer. Open from May 15 through the last weekend in September.
